Is steam still a thing?

While the majority of operations we see these days are diesel hauled, steam is definitely still seen on the Sydney Model Railway Society layout.
While regular steam service on the NSWGR ceased in the 1970's there continues to be immense public interest in heritage steam operations but they have specific needs which makes operation logistically challenging.

The same applies for models as they can be challenging as well as generally more expensive but also have components the move such as rods which can get damaged and frustrating to repair but regardless of the obstacles enjoy the selection of steam we've seen this year.
