About Sydney Model Railway Society

Established in 1936, Sydney Model Railway Society is the oldest Model Railway Club in Australia.

The SMRS is a model train club, specialising in NSW rolling stock (and a bit of everything else) with a long HO track in the club, and an excellent exhibition layout of the Mungo Scotts Flour Mill, based on the original location in Summer Hill in Sydney.

The club was originally situated at Sydney's iconic Central Station and we believe started by several train drivers of the time. Late (in the 80's), the room occupied by the Club was needed and we were relocated to an empty building at Arncliffe Railway Station

Today we are going strong, converting the layout to DCC and continuing to run a layout at many local exhibitions. We are eagerly awaiting for the end of Covid to get back out there.

We meet every Monday night from 7pm (except public holidays) and discuss all things trains, run sessions and model skill training. We also run day sessions every second Friday.

Visitors are most welcome and we are welcoming of new members.
